Today has been labelled Divorce Day, the first working Monday following the festive period. There is typically a rise in the number of family law related enquires as many people reflect on their marital situation after finding that the Christmas and New Year has shown cracks in relationships.
Whilst there is an argument for Divorce Day and there is a peak for divorce in January, I have found that the biggest increase of the New Year is February. This is because clients have had time to consider all of their options, then they make the decision to follow up the divorce proceedings.
