Andrea Boulter, Head of Family Law –
Being newly separated from a partner can be a daunting and scary time. This new service from Gingerbread is an invaluable tool to help couples think about what needs to be done to protect themselves and any children. Remember, it is advisable to get proper legal advice when entering into a separation or a divorce.
Gingerbread has today launched a brand new online ‘Separation Hub’, offering advice, information and support to parents going through a separation.
January is widely recognised as a time when many couples begin the process of separation. Calls to Gingerbread’s helpline rose sharply at the beginning of last year (2016), with a particular rise in calls related specifically to separation. From December 2015 to January 2016, there was a 120% rise in calls from parents who were just separating or newly separated, and an 80% rise in calls about divorce.
Gingerbread’s online Separation Hub gathers new and existing information and advice on separation into one place that is easy to use and navigate, offering support and guidance on several areas including supporting children, legal issues, safety, money and housing. It’s innovatively designed to be an intuitive online tool so that parents who are already feeling overwhelmed by their circumstances are able to easily find the information and help they need.
