As you know, following the latest government restrictions house viewings can’t take place at the moment and so you will not be able to show prospective buyers round your house but that doesn’t mean that you can’t get ahead of the market. Firstly, speak to your estate agent. They will be able to advise you if you should put the property on the market now, or wait until the lockdown is relaxed. In either event, you can instruct your chosen agent and get everything ready to go as soon as restrictions are relaxed.
Secondly, you can instruct your lawyer now, even during the lockdown period. They can progress all of the initial stages such as checking your ID, opening the file, obtaining copies of your deeds from the Land Registry and providing you with the Property Information Form and Fixtures and Fittings list to complete so that you are ready to send out a contract as soon as you have found a buyer
Finally, whilst you aren’t able to go out, why not use the time to do those little DIY jobs that you have been putting off for years, so your house is spick and span before it goes on the market!
