I have just read the most moving article about Dame Deborah James who sadly lost her battle to bowel cancer last month. She was a Mum, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a broadcaster and the most prolific campaigner who shared her experience of cancer to raise awareness and break down taboos and barriers and to allow people the chance to talk openly about cancer.
I am in absolute awe of what this amazing woman achieved in her lifetime, a life that was cut short by this cruel disease. Deborah was also a planner. She set up the Bowelbabe fund and she leaves the most poignant and valuable legacy. I can just imagine how proud her family must be of her achievements and rightly so… No on really knows how they will react to such news of cancer. Some, I expect, might dig their heads in the sand as its all frankly “too much” and some go into “let’s get organised” mode.
Sadly, here at Clarke & Son we meet people during some really distressing points in their life. Our role here is to make it easy for our clients to get their legal affairs in order – whether it is writing a Will or a Lasting Power of Attorney or applying for probate for those grieving their loved ones. If you need help, please call 01256 320555 or email us at mail@clarkeandson.co.uk. We are here to support you.
