This year at Clarke and Son we will be showing our support for The Ark Cancer Centre for the fourth year running. So far we have raised over £50,000 for the charity and want to remain supporters of this fantastic charity.
The Ark Cancer Centre is raising £5 million to build a much needed treatment centre in North Hampshire. This centre will enhance the care received by patients and their families throughout their treatment. We have helped the charity reach £1.7million in donations so far by completing a 24 hour rowing event, hosting a charity ball and golf day.
This year we are looking to raise in excess of £10,000. To do this we have formed a team of charity fundraisers who are taking on challenges and some facing their fears in order to reach our target. Claire Redhead partner at the firm said “It is great to see all of our staff so passionate about this charity and challenging themselves to do something new to raise money for The Ark”.
Our Charity Golf Day will be making a return this year on 11th July at Dummer Golf Club. Last year’s golf day was a great success raising around £3000. We want to replicate this success and invite as many people along to take part in the day.
We have seven brave women who have formed our abseiling team. This team will be abseiling down The Spinnaker Tower on Monday 27th August 2018. The team includes a mixture of thrill seekers whilst some have a phobia of heights. The Spinnaker Tower stands at 170 metres and is taller than the London Eye, Big Ben and Blackpool Tower. The team will be abseiling down 100 metres of this landmark which will be a great personal challenge for each individual.
One of our other challenges includes the London Bridges Trek. A team of more than 15 staff members and friends of Clarke and Son will be taking on 16 historic bridges of London walking 25km. This will be our most popular event and will be taking place on Saturday 29th September 2018. All participants are all looking forward to seeing the sights, taking on a challenge and supporting each other along the way.
A number of charity runs will also be included in our long list of events, including the Basingstoke Half Marathon. Known for being a tough but popular race in the area, Darren will be taking on the race for the second year running having vowed never to do it again!! Other races include St Michaels Hospice 5km. One of our bravest members of staff is even taking on a wingwalk. On Saturday 11th August Marie will be taking to the clouds in memory of her brother. We wish Marie luck with that one!
Our team are all taking part in fundraising, whether it is growing a moustache during Movember, baking cakes, facing fears, or running personal bests. We are looking forward to another great year of fundraising and hope we get the support of all our friends and family to help us reach our target.
