Dummer Golf Club – Wednesday 11th July 2018
This is our fourth year supporting the Ark Cancer Centre Charity as it is a cause that we feel very strongly about supporting. So far we have managed to raise over £55,000 and our target for this year is to surpass that!!
Our golf day is seen as a big part of our fundraising. On Wednesday 11th July 64 golfers came and took part in our charity golf day at Dummer Golf Club. The weather was fantastic, as it has been for a while now, and all things considered the golf course was in excellent condition. The golf course provided all of the golfers with a stern test with fast greens and thick rough to punish those offline drives. The feedback was great though and we can all strongly recommend a visit to the course.
We witnessed some great golf with birdies flying in from all angles and plenty of fist pumps as the putts dropped. We used the 14th hole for our nearest the pin challenge. This is a tricky par 3 over the biggest sand bunker you will ever see to an undulating green. This was no problem for Adam Davies who hit a fabulous tee shot to 3 feet to win the prize.
The longest drive challenge was on the 1st hole which is a long and straight par 4. It was playing in to the wind but with a firm and fast fairway. I know a few got close but nobody could beat the drive of Adam Davies. The drive itself was over 300 yards, which into the wind was a great tee shot.
Those of you that have played at Dummer GC before will probably remember a white line painted straight down the middle of the 8th fairway. This is for the straightest drive competition. It was no surprise to me that our very own Chris Lockley won this prize. All the time on the golf course is clearly paying off!!!
The main event was a team of 4 event with the best 2 stableford scores out of the four to count on each hole. There was some incredible scoring throughout the whole field. The winners with an incredible score of 95pts were the Clarke & Son team made up of Tertius Alberts, Nick Hoadley, James Clifton and Nick Butt. The Champion Group put up an admirable defence of the title finishing second on 94pts!
1st Place – 95 pts Clarke & Son
2nd Place – 93 pts Champion Group
3rd Place – 92 pts – LFM
The reason for running such events is to raise money and awareness for the Ark Cancer Centre Charity. I am please to say that we raised over £4000 on the day. Thank you all so much for your generosity.
Finally all of the photos are posted below. Thank you to everyone that took part or donated prizes to help us achieve this number. We will keep you updated with our progress on beating the amount we raised last year for this fantasic charity.
