Walking the walk for the Ark

Following the success of a charity golf day, a wing walk and an abseil, the Clarke and Son team took on a challenge were their feet remained safely on the ground. On Saturday 29th September nineteen fundraisers took on a River Thames London Bridges walk to pull in more pounds for the Ark Cancer Centre Charity.

The team began their journey at London’s iconic Tower Bridge and made their way down the Thames, crossing every bridge as they went. The final bridge was Wandsworth which took us to a total of 14 bridges, with each walker averaging 30,000 steps.

It was a lovely day enjoyed by staff, partners and friends and the scenic route made each mile of the 13 mile route much easier.

As a team we have raised £55,000 for Ark Cancer Centre Charity since 2015, and we are on a mission to add a further £15,000 to that total in 2018-19.

Following Saturday’s sponsored 13-mile walk, our fabulous fundraisers are now close to hitting £10,000 for 2018-19. There is no rest for the Clarke and Son team as Marketing Manager Darren Lovegrove, takes on the famously tough Basingstoke Half Marathon on Sunday 7th October.

Mark Jones, director of fundraising and communications for Ark Cancer Centre Charity, said: “The Clarke & Son team have really gone the extra mile, and then some, to support Ark – their commitment and fundraising has been absolutely awesome.

“Thank you to the 19 wonderful walkers who took part in the London Bridges event, and good luck to the half-marathon runners.”
